Many different things happen during one normal youth night. Usually, about 20-30 kids show up each night, and hopefully that number will grow this summer. While the worship team finishes up practicing, all the kids wander around, talk or play basketball. Then, everyone gathers round and Matt, the youth DIRECTOR, explains what game we will be playing. Whether its poop-ball, swissroll eating competitions (one filled with mustard), or ultimate frisbee, everyone has a blast.
The worship team arrives at 5-5:30 to practice early. Joey, Christina, Jesica and I sing, while Eddie plays drums. Popoff and Anthony take turns playing bass, and Popoff also plays guitar with Dave. We usually sing three songs, at least one active one.
After Joey leads in prayer, everyone takes a seat in the two front rows. Lately, since it is summer, we have been sitting outside to enjoy the sun! Lynne, Matt’s amazing wife, sometimes even brings popsicles! Then Matt gives us the message of the night, with everybody participating and listening. Sometimes…. we get him a little off track
.
After the message, everyone just hangs around until their parents come, and says their good-byes. Every night at FUEL is so fun, and I can’t wait ’til Creation Fest ’09!
Good work, Destini!
